Arriving in the United States as a student from Somalia in the 1980s; Mr. Ali graduated from Marquette University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Following his true passion for transportation engineering, Mr. Ali began what would become a distinguished career spanning over 15 years with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Beginning as a Project Engineer on several highway improvement projects in Wisconsin, Mr. Ali began a rapid ascent to increasingly responsible positions as an Advanced Engineer; Project Development Supervisor, District Chief, and Project Development Chief within the Department. Through his career, he supervised and mentored engineers and technicians, managed multi-million dollar transportation improvement programs and served on multiple administrative, technical and management committees.

In 2001, utilizing the depth and breadth of experience gained at the Department, Mr. Ali co-founded DAAR Engineering, Inc., specializing in transportation engineering and construction management. Through his leadership the area in which DAAR performs our services has expanded from the Southeastern Wisconsin to include the entire state as well as projects in Texas, Illinois, Missouri and the Republic of Iraq. Abdul is married to local writer Barbara Ali and is father to four sons, two of whom have followed him into the family business. He’s an active member of his local Mosque and enjoys world travel.
