STH 83 Reconstruction

DAAR is providing design services for a 1-mile urban reconstruct along STH 83 from E. Monroe Avenue to STH 60, with intersection improvements at the E. Monroe Avenue/STH 83 intersection in Washington County, WI. This three-party contract between DAAR, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), and the City of Hartford is located in the historic district of the City of Hartford.

Sensitive areas include two historic properties and Sawyer Park. As the project progresses, challenges include minimizing impacts near these sensitive areas, coordinating the programmatic 4(f) for the City Park, extensive utility coordination, and coordinating the Plat. This project also includes new storm sewer; evaluation of vision triangle obstructions; additional turn lanes and signal upgrades at Monroe Avenue; decorative lighting just south of STH 60; pedestrian/bicyclist accommodations with possible colored concrete crosswalks; and Transportation Management Plan. Public involvement is important to the success of this project with all of the sensitive issues, project location, as well as coordination of all project activities.
