STH 23 Corridor Preservation Study

STH 23 Corridor Preservation Study

The purpose of this project is to identify the existing and anticipated future roadway conditions along the STH 23 Corridor from CTH P (Plymouth) to STH 32 (Sheboygan Falls).

STH 23 serves as a main thoroughfare between Fond du Lac and Sheboygan. As the communities along this segment of roadway continue to grow and develop, WisDOT anticipates that traffic and demand for access to businesses and residences along will also increase. Although no construction is scheduled at this time, it is important to preserve the right of way to avoid costly future acquisitions as the development continues in the corridor.

A comprehensive public involvement plan has been developed as part of this project. The plan includes public information meetings, local officials meetings, newsletters and one-on-one meetings with property owners. In addition, a stakeholder committee consisting of local officials, business community representatives, agricultural interests and community planners has been assembled to provide input on the project plans from a local perspective.

Project Deliverables:

  • Analysis of existing and future conditions
  • Development of alternatives
  • Alternative selection and final recommendations
  • Preliminary engineering
  • Environmental assessment
  • Official corridor mapping
