US 12 Rehabilitation

Client

Wisconsin Department of Transportation (SE Region)

Location

Walworth County, WI

Total Estimated Cost

$25 Million

Design services are being provided for the 10.5-mile rehabilitation of US 12 between Lake Geneva (WIS 50) and Elkhorn (WIS 67) in Walworth County, WI. In addition to the mainline resurfacing on US 12, the project will include work on numerous structures ranging from complete replacements to painting.

The resurfacing work will entail removal of all existing asphalt and replacement with a new HMA surface. Base patching and shoulder reconstruction will also be undertaken to accommodate staged construction. An analysis will be completed to determine where beam guard or barrier wall is needed to meet current design standards.

The structure that carries Springfield Road over US 12, as well as two that carry US 12 over a south leg of County NN, will be complete replacements due to ongoing deterioration of the existing bridges. The scope of work for the structures to be rehabilitated include concrete overlays (one bridge), PMA overlays (two bridges), painting and bearing repairs or replacements (four bridges), wing wall repairs and miscellaneous other repairs (four bridges).
